Start with the notice
An account restriction can interrupt advertising, sales, or routine business work. The first response should be careful, not rushed. Open the notice through the platform’s official website or app, rather than following an unexpected message link. Phishing attempts can imitate account alerts and ask for passwords, payment details, or verification codes.
Read the notice in full. Note what action has been restricted, whether the platform identifies a policy or activity, and what steps it says are available. Save a copy for your records. If the message is unclear, check the platform’s official help materials before making changes.
Pause and review relevant activity
Identify the policy cited and compare it with recent account activity, advertising materials, payment or business information, and any changes to account access. A restriction may concern content, disclosures, billing, identity checks, unusual access patterns, or another issue. Avoid assuming the cause until the notice or official guidance makes it clearer.
Pause activity that may conflict with the cited rule. Do not keep submitting similar ads, repeatedly change account details, or make hurried edits that could obscure what happened. If several people manage the account, ask them to pause related work while you review the issue. Keep the review focused on legitimate compliance, not on disguising activity or bypassing platform safeguards.
Collect accurate evidence
Gather records that help explain the situation: the notice, relevant policy pages, campaign or transaction records, business documents requested by the platform, and a concise timeline of important changes. Preserve original files where possible, and keep copies in a secure location. Share only information that is relevant and requested through an official channel.
Be accurate about what happened. Do not alter documents, invent an explanation, or present uncertain details as fact. If a setting, piece of content, or access change may have contributed to the restriction, describe it plainly. If you manage multiple legitimate accounts, keep their records and access arrangements clearly organised so that information does not become mixed up.
Use the official appeal path
Follow the appeal or review process described in the notice or in the platform’s official help materials. Submit one clear account of the issue, include the evidence requested, and explain any corrective steps already taken. Keep the message polite, concise, and factual. Avoid threats, repeated submissions, or speculation about motives; these do not make the underlying record clearer.
Do not create replacement accounts to avoid a restriction or ban. Creating accounts for that purpose breaks the terms of most platforms and may lead to further restrictions. Likewise, do not use another person’s account, misleading identity details, or technical workarounds to continue the restricted activity. Wait for the platform’s response and use its stated process if it requests more information.
Protect access while the issue is reviewed
Check who can access the account and remove access that is no longer needed, using the platform’s normal controls. Secure associated email accounts, use strong unique passwords, and enable available account protections. Be cautious with messages claiming to offer special help or asking you to share a login code.
For teams, document who is responsible for the appeal and where relevant records are stored. If browser profiles or network settings are part of ordinary account management, keep them consistent with the platform’s rules and your organisation’s legitimate needs. Do not treat profile changes, proxies, or session resets as ways to conceal ownership or evade a review.
Learn from the cause
When the platform explains its decision, compare that explanation with your records and update your procedures. Clarify who reviews content, how business details are maintained, how access is handed over, and where policy changes are checked. Keep internal notes factual and useful, without storing unnecessary sensitive information.
A restriction may not be reversed, even when an appeal is submitted carefully. A calm, documented response helps keep the process orderly and supports better decisions about future account activity. Prioritise the platform’s rules, protect account access, and make changes only through legitimate channels.
